Away with Willow’s aim is to ensure a gentle, loving departure by providing at it’s heart a sustainable, environmentally friendly approach. Our 100% natural, biodegradable wicker coffins are suitable for cremation, traditional burials, and green woodland burial sites.

Each coffin is completely unique to your loved one, each one being personally handcrafted, and woven hearts and a name plate can be added as required. We can also provide a willow ash keepsake urn made from the same willow used to make your coffin, if a cremation is your choice of burial.

Away with Willow Coffins are different from other willow and wooden coffins as they have soft curved rounded ends. We keep the bark on and so, unlike the look of some other wicker coffins (who use buff willow) and are imported, the smell and softer feel of fresh cut willow is retained. The willow is grown and harvested in our own willow field, located next to our workshop. A sustainable option with no air miles (locally grown not flown) which helps to preserve our beautiful Scottish countryside.

Away with Willow can deliver directly to yourselves or your chosen Funeral Director if you are located in Southern Scotland/ North of England. For else where on the UK mainland a courier can be arranged for you.

Should I buy a coffin directly from Away with Willow Coffins or should I go through a Funeral Director?

Some Funeral Directors will say that you have to purchase coffins through them but this is not compulsory. If you buy direct from a local maker located in the UK (Away with Willow is based in Scotland) you are helping to support your local economy. The money spent in the UK stays in the UK.

It is often more cost effective to buy your coffin directly from Away with Willow and in addition we can provide optional extras to add a unique and loving feel to your funeral service and the willow/wicker coffin itself.
